Mr. Hal Leroy Oakley, age 71, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on November 7, 1942, on Popcorn Ridge in Switzerland County, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Marion Robert & Mary Alice (Martin) Oakley. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana, where he was a 1960 graduate of Vevay High School. He was united in marriage on June 1, 1963, at the Union Baptist Church in Lamb, Indiana to Joyce Curtis. He was later united in marriage to Juanita & then to Jacqueline Frederick of Reed City, Michigan. Hal was a former Electric Wire employee based out of Michigan. He was a former Quality Liaison Engineer in Louisville, Kentucky, for 2 years & for Pinder Instruments in Michigan as a Manager, for 4 years. Hal was a former employee for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana. Hal moved back to Columbus, Indiana from Utah & resided in the Vevay Community, for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185. Hal died at 10:32 am, Friday February 14, 2014, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Hal will be missed by his daughters: Lisa Oakley of Champagne, IL, Susan Oakley of Bloomington, IN, Allison Brown of Vevay, IN, Heather Oakley of Beverly Hills, CA, Michelle (Oakley) Van Handel of Sherwood, WI; his grandchildren: Britney, Paige, Brody, Emma, Curtis, Shawn & Wilson; his sister: Betty Rucker of Hope, IN; his brother: Charles E. Oakley of Monroe City, IN; his nephew: Kevin; his niece: Denise.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Marion Robert & Mary Alice (Martin) Oakley; his brother: Robert Oakley, Sr.; his sister: Catherine Oakley.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 24, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Pastor K.C. Banta, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
