Life Story for Sally Mae (Cole) Thompson

Sally Mae (Cole) Thompson, age 64, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on April 30, 1950, in Milan, Indiana, the daughter of, William J. Cole & the late, Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Knight) Shannon. She was raised in Redmon, Illinois, where she graduated high school & attended the Lakeland Junior College in Mattoon, Illinois. Sally was united in marriage on June 27, 1970, at the Methodist Church in Redmon, Illinois, to Jerry E. Thompson whom passed away in February 2001. Sally was employed as a CNA for the Paris Health Care Center in Paris, Illinois. Sally enjoyed volunteering her time as long as her health permitted. She volunteered for the Relay for Life & for many nursing home facilities. Sally was a member of the Florence Church of Christ in Florence, Indiana. Sally resided in the Vevay Community for the past 21 years. Sally enjoyed teaching Sunday School & Children's Church, supporting the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & the Lakota Indian School. Sally died at 4:15 pm, Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Sally will be missed by her father & step-mother: William J. Cole & his wife: Mary of Aurora, IN; her brothers: James Alan Shannon of Paris, IL, Robert Lee Shannon of Paris, IL, Edward Eugene Shannon of Vevay, IN, William Patrick Cole of Aurora, IN, James Stanley Cole of Indianapolis, IN, John Mark Cole of Aurora, IN, Daniel Martin Cole of Aurora, IN; her sisters: Ruth Ann Twigg of Danville, IL, Sandra Jean Otter of Vevay, IN; her numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Elizabeth Jean "Betty" (Knight) Shannon, died October 30, 2012; her step-father: James Sherman Shannon.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 1:00 pm, by Bro. Roy Duckworth, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Cards are available at the funeral home.
