Life Story for Betty Jean (Aufderheide) Thieman

Betty Jean (Aufderheide)  Thieman
Mrs. Betty Jean (Aufderheide) Thieman, age 90, of Pleasant, Indiana, entered this life on November 11, 1923, in Ripley County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Frank William & Zella May (Warner) Aufderheide. She was raised in Ripley County, Indiana & was a 1942 graduate of Cross Plains High School. Betty was united in marriage on December 2, 1944, in Anniston, Alabama, to Leonard Henry William Thieman & to this union arrived two sons & three daughters to bless their home. Betty & Leonard shared 68 loving years of marriage together until his death on December 6, 2012. Betty was a former employee for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, the Jefferson Proving Ground in Madison, Indiana & for the Seagram's Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. She was also a former employee for the Landwehr Inc. in Versailles, Indiana, for several years. She was a member of the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry, Indiana & the Nigh Owl's Home Economics Club of Pleasant, Indiana. Betty resided in the Pleasant Community, since 1944. Betty was a wonderful homemaker & enjoyed helping her husband on the family farm. Betty will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, bowling & bird watching. Betty was a devoted wife, mother & grandmother. Betty died at 5:15 am, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Betty will be missed by her sons: Larry Thieman & his wife: Linda of Pleasant, IN, Mike Thieman & his wife: Melisa of Pleasant, IN; her daughters: Peggy Lee Covington of Madison, IN, Victoria L. Burris & her husband: Tim of Lawrenceburg, IN, Teresa R. Libby & her husband: Gary of Fairview, IN; her grandchildren: Scott, Chris, Lori, Andrea, Matt, Luke, Alicia, Angela, April, Abby, Alex, Gary Jr. & Jeremy; her great-grandchildren: Amber, Dustin, Shawn, Isabel, Jackson, Elijah, Tyler, Porter, Kylan, Ellery, Bryson & Evaiah; her great-great-grandchildren: Mya, Sophia, Levi, Jocelyn & Luken; her sister-in-laws: Phyllis Rueter of Milan, IN, Pat Rueter of Dillsboro, IN; her several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank William & Zella May (Warner) Aufderheide; her loving husband of 68 years: Leonard Henry William Thieman, died December 6, 2012; her grandson: Kent Thieman; her sisters: Ruth Hehe & Dorothy Roundtree; her brother: Cecil Aufderheide; her half-sisters: Lena Mae Henchen, Freda Barton & Evelyn James; her half-brothers: John Rueter, Owen Rueter & James Rueter.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Richard Wilkie, at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 5588 E. County Road 900 South Cross Plains (Dewberry), Indiana.

Interment will follow in the Saint Paul Cemetery, Cross Plains (Dewberry), Indiana

Friends may call 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043 & from 10:00 am until time of service on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Cross Plains (Dewberry), Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul Cemetery or Macular Degeneration Research. Cards are available at the funeral home & the church.
