Mrs. Mary Belle (Davis) Davenport, age 94, of Sellersburg, Indiana, formerly of Markland, Indiana, entered this life on May 9, 1921 in Williamsburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the late, Sidney Barnes and Mary Jane (Rains) Davis. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1936, in Harlan County, Kentucky to Charles V. Davenport. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Curt and Bob and two daughters, Shirley and Betty to bless their home. Mary and Charles shared 57 loving years of marriage together until Charles passed away on June 19, 1993. Mary and Charles resided in the Vevay community for 50 years. Mary was a long standing member of the Markland Baptist Church where she was very active until her health began to fail. Mary and Charles wintered in Homestead, Florida where she was employed as an upholster for a company for several years until Hurricane Andrew hit in August 1992 . She was a wonderful homemaker and could make out of this world dumplings, green beans, fried chicken and gravy. Mary enjoyed upholstering and fabricating handmade dolls for her family. Mary passed away surrounded by her loving family at 10:54 pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Shirley "Cookie" Applegate in Sellersburg, Indiana.

Mary will be dearly missed by her son: Curt Davenport & his wife: Debbie of Spartanburg, SC; her daughters: Shirley "Cookie" Applegate of Sellersburg, IN & Betty Young Monroe & her husband: Frank of New Albany, IN & her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Sidney Barnes & Mary Jane (Rains) Davis; her husband: Charles V. Davenport, died June 19, 1993; her son: Bob Davenport; her great-grandson: Jared Samples & her sons-in-law: Stan Applegate & Monte Young.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 3:00 pm, by Pastor Bobby Brundidge Jr., at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
