Life Story for Russell Edward "Bud" Von Bargen Jr.

Russell Edward "Bud"  Von Bargen Jr.
Mr. Russell Edward "Bud" Von Bargen, Jr., age 83, of near Moorefield, Indiana, entered this life on December 26, 1932 in Reading, Ohio, the son of the late, Russell Henry Louis and Olivia (Engelhart) Von Bargen. He was raised in Reading, Ohio where he was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School. Russell was employed in 1948 for Page Library in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1949, he was employed as a cashier for Albers Supermarket. In 1951, Russell was employed as a janitor for Reading High School in Reading, Ohio. Russell was inducted into the United States Navy on September 22, 1951 serving during the Korean War. Russell was honorably discharged with the rank of sailor on February 25, 1955. He was employed in 1955 to 1963 as a model maker for General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio. Russell was united in marriage on August 17, 1957 at the Saint Savior Catholic Church in Rossmoyne, Ohio to Roberta Mary "Bobbie" Rieger. This happy union was blessed with five sons and one daughter. Russell and Bobbie shared 58 years of marriage together until his death. In 1963, he was employed in furniture design for Globe Werneke Office Furniture for one year. He was also employed in 1964 for the Institutional Hospital Equipment until 1965 when he went to work for Products Presentation until 1966. In 1966 he was employed for Electro Jet Tool Company, retiring in 1989 after 23 years of service. In 1986 he purchased a Cincinnati Enquirer route retiring in 1994 after 8 1/2 years of service. Russell was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vevay where he was Treasurer for several terms. He was the adult representative for the Boy Scouts Troop #747 for several years. He was a former Republican Precinct Committeeman for Craig Township. He was a devout Republican. Russell will be remembered for his love of woodworking, vegetable gardening, fishing, hunting, taxidermy and archery. Russell passed away with his loving family by his side at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at his residence near Moorefield, Indiana.

Russell will be dearly missed by his loving wife: Roberta Mary "Bobbie" (Rieger) Von Bargen of near Moorefield, IN; his sons: John Russell Von Bargen of Louisville, KY, Edward Joseph Von Bargen & his wife: Pamela of Port St. Lucie, FL, Barry Louis Von Bargen & his wife: Sharon of West Chester, OH, Robert Michael Von Bargen & his wife: Gina of Liberty Township, OH & Scott Allen Von Bargen of Reading, OH; his daughter: Cynthia Maria (Von Bargen) French & her husband: Larry of Reading, OH; his grandchildren: John Russell, Jr. Von Bargen, Jennifer Thompson, Roberta "Bobbie Jean" Von Bargen, Amanda Schnieders, Heather Von Bargen, Amber Von Bargen, Josh Von Bargen, Jamie Rahe, Christopher Von Bargen, Andrew Von Bargen, Dawn Felsheim, Jessica Poirier, Michael Von Bargen, Michael French & Zachary French; his great-grandchildren: Wyatt Von Bargen, Randall Felts, Mallory Felts, Cadell Schnieders, Avery Schnieders, Liam Schnieders, Raegyn Thompson, Henry Thompson, Jackson Thompson, Evelyn Thompson, Frye Rahe, Archie Rahe, Zoe Rahe, Kaelen Flueck, Carson Poirier, Grayson Poirier, Addison Poirier, Preston Felsheim, Darien French, Victoria Von Bargen & Hailey Von Bargen & his cousin: Joyce Denny of Cross Plains, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Russell Henry Louis & Olivia (Engelhart) Von Bargen; his sisters: Birdie Lou Von Bargen, Carol Toulbee, Shirley Pennington & Irma Ann Smith & his cousin: Arthur Kinkey.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2016 by Pastor KC Banta at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana.

Interment will follow at a later date in the Crown Hill Memorial, Cincinnati, Ohio.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana.

A Reception will be held immediately following the Memorial Service at the Jack Sullivan Senior Center on Walnut Street in Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation or Kiwanis Club of Vevay. Cards are available at the funeral home.
