Life Story for Edwin Lloyd "Ed" Granger

Edwin Lloyd "Ed"  Granger
Mr. Edwin Lloyd "Ed" Granger, age 84, of Worthville, Kentucky, entered this life on July 24, 1932, in Hobart, Oklahoma, the son of the late, Elvin Lloyd and Ruby Katherine (Stewart) Granger. He was raised near Carrollton, Kentucky where he attended school. Edwin was united in marriage to Zetta Louise Jackson, whom preceded him in death. Edwin joined the National Guard when he was but a mere lad of 14 or 15 years of age. Not long after joining, the Korean War broke out and the National Guard was deployed to Korea. He served in Korea from 1950 to 1952 as an engineer constructing and repairing roads and bridges. After being exposed to the Korean War for 2 years, he decided to seek another avenue. Arriving back in the states, he transferred to the Coast Guard in Alameda, California, retiring in 1974, after 21 years of service. He served in various ways and was stationed in many different places while in the Coast Guard. Alaska was one of his favorite places and Greenland being one of his least favorite. He operated his own general contracting business called Ed's Home Maintenance in San Leandro, California for 20 years. Edwin enjoyed farming in Carrollton, Kentucky for 8 years and resided in Owen County, Kentucky for the past 4 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No.134 in Carrollton, Kentucky. Edwin will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Ed passed away at 3:22 am, Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Ed will be dearly missed by his daughters: Linda Granger of San Leandro, CA, Adrienne Granger of Oakland, CA, Valarie Granger of Livermore, CA, Gail Becker and her husband: Don of Freemont, CA and Connie FiFe of Hayward, CA; his son: Phil Granger of San Leandro, CA; his 6-grandchildren; his 4-great-grandchildren; his sisters: Jenny Turner and her husband: Pastor G.B. of Worthville, KY and Betty LaVerne Osborne of Carrollton, KY; his brother-in-law: Raymond Sharon of Carrollton, KY and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Elvin Lloyd and Ruby Katherine (Stewart) Granger; his wife: Zetta Louise (Jackson) Granger; his sisters: Ellen Joyce Sharon and Dora Lucille Kinman; his brothers: William Thomas Granger and Elvin Benton Granger.

A Memorial Service will be conducted Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 1:00 pm, by G.B. Turner at the Vevay Assembly, 721 Main Vevay, Indiana 47043.

A Memorial Gathering will he held from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the Vevay Assembly 721 Main Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vevay Assembly Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
