Life Story for Mary Elizabeth Branham (Means)

Mary Elizabeth  Branham (Means)
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Means) Branham, age 98, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on April 24, 1919, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of the late, David Earl and Mildred M. (Montanye) Means. She was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was a 1936 graduate of the Vevay High School. Mary was united in marriage on September 21, 1938, in Madison, Indiana, to the late, Roy L. Branham and to this union arrived a daughter, Sherry and a son, David to bless their home. Mary and Roy shared nearly 45 years of marriage together until Roy passed away on June 15, 1983. In 1952, Mary was employed as a Army Material Commander in Washington, D.C., retiring on June 30, 1972, after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Eggleston Club, Bennington Order of Eastern Star 407, Center Square Homemakers Club and the Vevay Tri Kappa. She was a member of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women Association. Mary enjoyed painting, needle point, playing cards and games and spending time with her family and friends. Mary passed away at 11:55 am, Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana.

Mary will be dearly missed by her son: David Branham and his wife: Judith of Downingtown, PA; her daughter: Sherry Wheeling and her husband: Robert of New Palestine, IN; her grandchildren: Jeffrey Gayle and his wife: Kathy, Robert Wheeling, Jr. and his wife: Deanna, Dustin Wheeling and his wife: Ruth, Chris Branham and his wife: Wendy and Drew Branham and his wife: Abigail; her 17-great-grandchildren; her 12-great-great-grandchildren and her niece: Nancy Shaw of El Paso, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents: David Earl, died April 2, 1977 and Mildred M. (Montanye) Means, died April 7, 1985; her husband: Roy L. Branham, died June 15, 1983; her sister: Norma Jane Shaw, died April of 1995 and her grandson: Michael Gayle, died February 2, 1994.

Friends may call 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Bennington Order of Eastern Star No.407 will conduct services at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 1:00 pm, by Gary Marlin, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church. Cards are available at the funeral home.
