Life Story for Francis Edward "Fritz" Sigmon

Mr. Francis Edward "Fritz" Sigmon, age 70, of near East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on February 16, 1947, in Milan, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Norman Francis and Pearl Leona (Cochran) Sigmon. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1966 graduate of the Vevay High School. Fritz was inducted into the United States Army on October 6, 1966, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert (Rifle M-16), Vietnam Service Medal, Marksman (Rifle M-14) and the Purple Heart. Fritz was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on August 26, 1968, in Oakland, California. Fritz was united in marriage on June 20, 1970, at the Grant's Creek Baptist Church, to Connie Gail Lay and to this union arrived two daughters, Carissa and Carla to bless their home. Fritz and Connie shared 47 years of marriage together until his death. Fritz was employed as an inspector machinist for General Electric in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 2007, after 15 years of service. Fritz was a former employee for Schenley Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, for 20 years and was also a former employee for the Carpenters Union Local 1142 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post #59 and the Bennington United Methodist Church. Fritz enjoyed farming and tinkering in the garage. Fritz will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Fritz passed away at 7:40 am, Friday, July 14, 2017, at his residence near East Enterprise, Indiana.

Fritz will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 47 years: Connie Gail (Lay) Sigmon of near East Enterprise, IN; his daughters: Carissa Chase and her husband: Jim of East Enterprise, IN and Carla Miller and her husband: Kenny of East Enterprise, IN; his grandson's: Nicholas Chase, Devon Chase and Brayden Miller; his sister: Wanda Scranton and her husband: Donald of Fairview, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Norman Francis and Pearl Leona (Cochran) Sigmon and his sister: Christina Sigmon.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 17, 2017, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Bill Madison at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and Full Military Rites will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery, East Enterprise, Indiana by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396.
