Mr. Dale Vernon Peters, age 77, of Patriot, Indiana, entered this life on July 25, 1940, in Patriot, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Dale A. and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters. He was raised in Patriot, Indiana and attended school in Florence, Indiana. Dale was united in marriage on August 3, 1959, in Vevay, Indiana, to the late, Rita L. Thomas and to this union arrived two daughters, Beverly and Mary to bless their home. Dale and Rita shared 56 years of marriage together until Rita passed away on April 20, 2015. Dale was employed as a truck driver for J & J Enterprises in Patriot, Indiana, from 1989 to 2002. He was previously employed for the Switzerland County Highway Department for four years and for Mechanics Laundry in Indianapolis, Indiana for five years. Dale was a member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Rising Sun, Indiana. Dale resided in the Patriot community most of his life and enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. Dale passed away at 4:45 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Dale will be missed by his daughters: Beverly Powers and her husband: Dale and Mary Peters of Patriot, IN; his brother: Larry Peters of Pleasant, IN; his sisters: Patricia Brandon of Aurora, IN and Carolyn Morgan of Vevay, IN; his sisters-in-law: Betty Jo Rider of Patriot, IN, Crystal Peters of Vevay, IN, June Wainscott of French, IN and Sue Thomas of Patriot, IN; his brother-in-law: Samuel Thomas of Vevay, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dale A. and Ida Margaret (Riley) Peters; his wife of 56 years: Rita L. (Thomas) Peters, died April 20, 2015; his brothers: Raymond Lee Peters, died July 5, 2016 and Bobby Joe Peters, died March 7, 2017; his niece: Cheryl Lynn Cunningham, died July 16, 2011; his brothers-in-law: Gary Brandon, Wayne Rider, James Edward "Eddie", Howard, Richard, Bernard and Leroy Thomas; one infant brother-in-law and his sisters-in-law: Linda Peters, Barbara Thomas, Mary Frances Thomas and Connie Jo Peters.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at 1:00 pm, by Bro. Hobert Byrd at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
