Life Story for Jerry Len Earl

Jerry Len  Earl
Mr. Jerry Len Earl, age 68, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 20, 1949, in Rushville, Indiana, the son of the late, Frank H. and Gertie E. (Dance) Earl. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana where he was a 1968 graduate of the Vevay High School. Jerry was inducted into the United States Army on August 27, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-16 and Good Conduct Medal. Jerry transferred to the Army National Guard with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on February 27, 1972 at Fort Lewis, Washington. Jerry re-enlisted on April 23, 1973, in Louisville, Kentucky and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on April 23, 1974. Jerry re-enlisted on April 24, 1974, in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp (4 loops), National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Expert Badge Rifle M-16, Expert Badge Hand Grenade and the Mechanic Badge. Jerry was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on October 4, 1983. Jerry served in the army for ten years and six months. Jerry was united in marriage on March 5, 1973, in Springfield, Tennessee, to Deborah Freudenberg and they shared over 20 years of marriage together until Jerry's passing. Jerry was a former Security Guard in Cincinnati, Ohio until he became disabled. Jerry resided most of his life in the Vevay community. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, socializing with friends, playing guitar, watching movies, martial arts and being with his sons. Jerry passed away at 1:04 pm, Thursday, October 19, 2017, at his son's residence in North Vernon, Indiana.

Jerry will be missed by his life long companion, Deborah (Freudenberg) Earl of Vevay, IN; his sons, Frank Harold Earl and his wife: Jennifer of North Vernon, IN and Wayne William Earl of Vevay, IN; his sister, Linda Barrett and her husband: Phil of Eustis, FL and his two-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank H. Earl, died April 5, 1960 and Gertie E. (Dance) Earl, died April 24, 2003.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, November 10, 2017, at 10:00 am, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road Madison, Indiana 47250. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the cemetery.
