Life Story for Mary Anne Ricketts (Ford)

Mrs. Mary Anne (Ford) Ricketts, age 87, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 11, 1930, in Mt. Sterling, Indiana, the loving daughter of, Henry George and Elsie R. (Gibbs) Ford, whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Mt. Sterling, Indiana and was a 1948 graduate of the Vevay High School. After high school, she worked as a nanny for the Rubel Family in Cincinnati, Ohio and later for the Selective Service where she sent many young men off to serve their country. She attended a business school in Cincinnati, Ohio. On January 1, 1952, Mary Anne and Joe opened the Ricketts Jewelry Store on Main Street in Vevay, Indiana with three rings and four watches. Mary Anne was united in marriage on January 3, 1953, in Vevay, Indiana to Joe Edward Ricketts and to this union arrived three children, Jennifer, Michael and Randall to bless their home. Mary Anne and Joe purchased a building on North Ferry Street and moved the jewelry business to the location where it exists today. Mary Anne and Joe shared nearly 56 years of marriage together until Joe passed away on December 14, 2009. After the death of her husband, Mary Anne still continued to operate the jewelry store for 66 years. Mary Anne was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Auxiliary and Vevay Tri-Kappa and attended the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, Indiana. Mary Anne enjoyed caring for her children and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed meeting people in the jewelry store and spending time with her nieces and nephews, watching the Cincinnati Red's, attending to her flowers and eating any type of desserts especially a slice of lemon pie! Mary Anne will be deeply missed by her loving family, abundance of friends and her community. Mary Anne passed away at 4:43 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Mary Anne is survived by her daughter, Jennifer "Jeni" Scudder and her husband: Kevin of Florence, IN; her son, Randall "Randy" Ricketts and his wife: Pam of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Regan Kelso, Devin Scudder, Joe Ryan Ricketts, Dustin Ricketts, Carlee Ricketts, Trenton Ricketts and Breanna Ricketts; her great-grandchildren, McKayli, McKenli, McKira, Addison, Sadie, Carl, Jameson, Waylon, Mason, Lillie and Aubrey; her sister, Helen Stewart of Cincinnati, OH and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry George and Elsie R. (Gibbs) Ford; her husband, Joe Edward Ricketts, died December 14, 2009; her son, Michael Lee "Mike" Ricketts, died February 26, 2005; her brothers, George, Robert "Bobby", James Henry and Paul Ford; her niece, Kimberly Ford and her nephew, Greg Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 2, 2018, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike Jones and Rev. C. Martin Justice at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Vevay VFW Post #5396 Auxiliary Services will be conducted at 7:30 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the funeral home.
