Mrs. JoAnn (Backer) Hall Connolly, age 75, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 26, 1942, in Troy, Indiana, the daughter of the late, Joseph Simon and Anna Marie (Stilwell) Backer. She was raised in Troy, Indiana and moved to the Switzerland County community where she was a 1960 graduate of the Vevay High School and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. JoAnn was united in marriage on February 24, 1961, at the Hanover College Campus Chapel, to the late, Howard Leon "Fuzz" Hall and to this union arrived four sons to bless their home. JoAnn was later united in marriage to Paul J. Connolly on December 4, 1983, at the Caledonia United Presbyterian Church in Moorefield, Indiana. JoAnn and Paul shared 10 years of marriage together until he passed away on December 8, 1993. JoAnn was employed for Reliance Electric in Madison, Indiana. She owned and operated the East Enterprise Grocery Store and Josie's Place in East Enterprise, Indiana. She was a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker and Connolly Associates for several years and was employed for the Cincinnati Enquirer for several years. JoAnn owned and operated 1,2,3 River House Bar & Grill in Vevay, Rising Sun and Madison, Indiana, the wine cellar in Vevay, Indiana and the Strikers Bowling Alley with her son, Bruce in Vevay, Indiana. She also owned and operated Granny's Restaurant with her son, Jason in Vevay, Indiana. JoAnn served on the Switzerland County Tourism Board and was a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 Auxiliary and the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Auxiliary. She was raised in the Catholic Church in Troy, Indiana. JoAnn enjoyed karaoke and loved to travel and enjoyed going to the beach and her dogs. JoAnn was proud she got to check skydiving off her bucket list. JoAnn passed away at 4:20 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, Terry Hall and his wife: Karen of Moorefield, IN, Bruce Hall of Moorefield, IN and Jason Hall of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Keli Gabbard and her husband: Bobby, Caleb Hall and his wife: Megan, Katie Hall and her companion: Michael Haas and Mark Hall and his companion: Stephanie Smith; her great-grandchildren, Grant Hall, Kassidy Gabbard and Lincoln Haas; her sisters, Simone Campbell of Vevay, IN and Veronica Anderson of Madison, IN and her nephew, William "Danny" Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Simon Backer, died June 9, 1984 and Anna Marie (Stilwell) Backer, died March 1, 2011; her 1st husband, Howard Leon "Fuzz" Hall, died January 21, 2010; her 2nd husband, Paul J. Connolly, died December 8, 1993 and her son, Mark Hall, died June 18, 1989.

Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Celebration of JoAnn's life will be conducted Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 4:00 pm, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Graveside services will be held in the Spring in the Calvary Cemetery in Troy, Indiana.
