Life Story for Harold Edward Meierle

Mr. Harold Edward Meierle, age 80, of Holton, Indiana and Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on March 21, 1938, in Milan, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Charles H. and Clara Marie (Matz) Meierle. He was raised in New Marion, Indiana and was a 1956 graduate of the New Marion High School. Harold was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1961, serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 1st Class in 1966. Harold received his life and health insurance license in Louisville, Kentucky and began his career for Indiana Farm Bureau in Dillsboro, Indiana, for five years and for the Hardy Insurance Company in East Enterprise, Indiana, retiring in 2008, after several years of service. He was also employed for MoorMan's Feed Company in Seymour, Indiana, for 15 years. Harold was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185. He was a formerly active member in the 4-H and the St. Magdalene Catholic Church in New Marion, Indiana. Harold resided near East Enterprise, Indiana and most all of his life in Holton, Indiana. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered for his love of collecting marbles and gold coins that he was very knowledgeable about. Harold passed away at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Harold is survived by his brother, Garry Meierle and his wife: Janet of Madison, IN; his sister, Genevieve Pickett of Lawrenceburg, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Clara Marie (Matz) Meierle; his brothers, Marcee, Dalbert, Charles and Irvin Meierle and his sisters, Mary Gigerich, Ruth Burske, Evelyn Meierle and Charlotte "Margaret" Terrican.

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018, at the St. Patrick Catholic Chapel 305 West State Street Madison, Indiana 47250.

Funeral mass will be conducted Friday, July 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., by Father Christopher Craig at the St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, 305 West State Street Madison, Indiana 47250.

Full military rites and interment will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the St. Magdalene Cemetery, Madison, Indiana.
