Life Story for Edward Jacob "Ed" Dodd Jr.

Mr. Edward Jacob "Ed" Dodd, Jr., age 75, of Crane Hill, Alabama, lost his battle to cancer at 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his residence. He was born to Edward J. Dodd, Sr. and Florence Charlotte (Wagner) Dodd in Neptune, New Jersey, on July 11, 1943. He was raised in Manasquan, New Jersey and graduated from Manasquan High School in 1961. He graduated from Monmouth College, New Jersey in 1965 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration. Ed was united in marriage to Paula Ann Harris on March 15, 1969 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Madison, Indiana with 49 memorable years together. Ed’s construction and engineering career include: Babcock & Wilcox Construction Company, Global Power Company, Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation, Rust Engineering, Eichleay Corporation, Williams Power Corporation, BE&K, and W.G. Yates Construction Company. Ed was proficient at creating winning strategies, aligning personnel, re-engineering business practices, improving operating efficiency, and productivity. He knew how to get a job done, also how to take time to unwind. Ed found pleasure in hunting, boating, and traveling. He was a member of Navesink Masonic Lodge No. 9 of Redbank, New Jersey, Scottish Rite of Evansville, Indiana, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Ed will be deeply missed by his beautiful wife, Paula Harris Dodd of Crane Hill, AL; his daughters, Kimberly Newlin and her husband, Michael of Birmingham, AL and Jennifer Wester and her husband, Derek of Birmingham, AL; his son, Brian Dodd of Madison, IN; his grandchildren, Cole Jacob Wester, Lily Payne Wester, Ella Harris Newlin, Whitten Edward Dodd, and Sutton Elizabeth Dodd; his brother-in-law, Alan Harris of Vevay, IN; his nephews, Travis, Christopher and Danny Harris all of Vevay, IN; his godson, Richard Ryan Risk of Madison, IN and his loyal Lab, Tilley

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Jacob "Jake" Dodd, Sr., died November 30, 2002 and Florence Charlotte (Wagner) Dodd, died September 18, 2011 and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd Sheldon and Burnetta G. (Gullion) Harris

Friends may call 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 17, 2018, at 1:00 pm, by Roger D. Nay, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
