Mrs. Alma Jean (Wainscott) Farris-Rayburn, age 88, of Vevay, Indiana, was born on December 29, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late, Noah and Willena (Bennett) Wainscott. She was raised in Owen County, Kentucky but moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she met and married Edward Johnson. To this union was born two children, Stephen Wayne and Jacqueline Lee. A second marriage was to Deward Farris with whom she had two more daughters, Tracy Lynn and Tammy Iretta. She and Deward were married 30 years until his untimely death on January 4, 1994. A later marriage was to Merrill Rayburn, who survives. A tender-hearted lady, who always said she was happy as long as her children were happy. Alma passed away with her loving family by her side at 7:31 am, Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Alma will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Merrill Rayburn of Vevay, IN; her children, Steve Johnson & his wife: Mary of Vevay, IN, Jackie Hill & her husband: Bill of Versailles, IN, Tracy Johnson & her husband: David of Liberty, Ky, and Tammy Farris & her fiancé: Patrick Richard of Lawrenceburg, IN; her grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Stephanie Johnson Wilroy, Matt Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Mark Dickerson, Janna Sweeney, Jim Hill, Jared Hill, and Jeremy Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Hinman, Kameron Pavy, Olivia Pavy, Johnathan Sweeney, Hunter Hill, Noah Hill, Savannah Hill, Brooke Dickerson, Summer Dickerson, Paxton Dickerson, Adrina Houchen, and Blake Johnson; her sister, Sandy Tingle & her husband: Freddie; her brother, Brad Wainscott; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Wainscott, Sandy Wainscott, and Jackie Wainscott and her several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah & Willena (Bennett) Wainscott; her husband, Deward Farris, died January 4, 1994; her brothers, Lenvill, Wallace, and Jerry Wainscott; her sister, Iretta Wainscott and a sister-in-law, Doris Wainscott

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Charles Dayadharum at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
