Mr. Dean Griffin, age 84, of Pleasant, Indiana, entered this life on January 4, 1933, in Brookville, Indiana, the loving son of the late, John and Frona (St. John) Griffin. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1951 graduate of the Vevay High School. Dean was united in marriage on March 1, 1952, in Vevay, Indiana, to Carolyn Miller and to this union arrived a daughter, Joyce and three sons, Ronnie, Dwayne and Mike to bless their home. Dean and Carolyn shared nearly 65 loving years of marriage together until his death. Dean was a former surveyor for the Switzerland County ASCS Office in Vevay, Indiana. He was also a former employee for Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana. He was a bus driver for Christman Bus Service for 9 1/2 years. Dean was employed for Indiana-Kentucky Electric Company in Madison, Indiana, retiring in 1992, after 30 years of service. Dean was a school board member for the Switzerland County School Corporation from 1968 to 1972. He was a founding board member of the Switzerland County Sportsman Club since 1996 and was a member of the Gideon's International Switzerland County Camp. Dean was a faithful member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church in Pleasant, Indiana. Dean enjoyed hunting, watching basketball and baseball and spending time with his grandchildren. Dean passed away with his loving family by his side at 10:15 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Baptist East Health in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dean will be dearly missed by his loving wife of nearly 65 years: Carolyn L. (Miller) Griffin of Pleasant, IN; his daughter: Joyce A. Barnes and her husband: Rev. Mike of near Moorefield, IN; his sons: Ronnie Griffin and his wife: Mary Lou of Bennington, IN, Dwayne Griffin and his wife: Brenda of Rising Sun, IN and Mike Griffin and his wife: Cindy of Madison, IN; his grandchildren: Travis, Christy, Amber, Ryan, Michelle, Kassie and Emily; his great-grandchildren: Aiden, Abbey, Avery, Conner, Chloe, Audrey, Tucker, Kellan, Shawna, Kipton, Jessie and Maddie; his step-grandchildren: Kevin and Kelli; his step-great-grandchildren: Bryant and Briann; his brothers-in-law: Bob Browning of Rising Sun, IN, Carl Eversman of Rising Sun, IN and Pastor Kenny Miller and his wife: Carolyn of Vevay, IN and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Frona (St. John) Griffin; his grandson: Shawn Michael Barnes, died March 27, 2000; his brothers: Abe, Tom and Jim Griffin; his sisters: Lavina "Viney" Eversman and Grace Browning; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arnold Wilbur and Gladys Mary (Lindsay) Miller and his sister-in-law: Marilyn Morgan.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 27, 2017, at 11:00 am, by Pastor Chris Clemans and Rev. Mike Sawalich at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Cemetery, Pleasant, Indiana.
