Life Story for Mr. George Bryant Adams

Mr. George Bryant  Adams
Mr. George Bryant Adams, age 49, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on September 4, 1964, in Madison, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Arthur Bettens "Art" & Betty Jean (Otter) Adams. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1982 graduate of Switzerland County High School. He earned his Associates Degree in Computer Technology in 1988 from Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, Indiana. George was united in marriage on May 16, 1987, at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana, to Connie Lane & to this union arrived two daughters & a son to bless their home. George & Connie shared nearly 27 years of marriage together until his death. George was a former Emergency Management Director for Switzerland County Emergency Management. He was formerly employed in Safety & Loss Prevention for Dow Corning in Carrollton, Kentucky from 1990-2003. George was a former EMT for the King's Daughter's EMS for 5 years & for Hugh Garner Med Care Ambulance in Madison, Indiana, for several years. George was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department & was a former Reserve Policeman for the Vevay Police Department. He served on the Switzerland County EMS Board of Directors for 15 years. George was a member of the Florence Lodge No. 27 F&AM & the Spring Branch Baptist Church. He was a Primary EMT Instructor for the State of Indiana, served on the Education Committee for the State of Indiana EMS, lifetime member of the Switzerland County EMS, member of the Posey Fire Department & the Son's of the Vevay American Legion Post #185. George will be remembered for his love of working & always helping others. His enjoyment in life was having his entire family together, especially his children, Stephanie, Kristin & Kevin. George fought a courageous battle with heart disease for the past 12 years, but he never let it slow him down & continued to be very involved in his community & will truly be missed for all of his hard work & dedication to Switzerland County. George was a devoted husband, father, brother, son-in-law, uncle & dear friend. George died at 3:55 am, Sunday, February 16, 2014, at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

George will be missed by his wife of 27 years: Connie (Lane) Adams of Vevay, IN; his daughters: Stephanie Adams of Vevay, IN, Kristin Adams of Vevay, IN; his son: George Kevin Adams of Vevay, IN; his sister: Belinda Swanson & her companion: John Anderson of Madison, IN; his brother: Tom Skirvin & his wife: Melissa of Vevay, IN; his mother-in-law: Faye Lewis of Vevay, IN; his brother-in-law: Doug Lane & his wife: Julie of Madison, IN; his nieces & nephews: Clint, Angela, Lori, Valerie, Ryan, Kara, Jacob, Amy, Brandy, Will, & Olivia; his several great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts & uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur Bettens "Art" & Betty Jean (Otter) Adams; his grandparents: Roy G. & Mable (Carber) Adams, Royland A. "Roll" & Daisy (McFarland) Otter; his father-in-laws: James Richard "Jim" Lewis & John Keith Lane.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 21, 2014, at 11:00 am, by Rev. Rick Daugherty, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Masonic Services will be conducted by the Florence Lodge No. 27 F&AM on Thursday, February 20, 2014, 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to George B. Adams Memorial Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.
